Guidelines for the Submission of Articles and Photos

Article Submission

Please follow these guidelines when preparing your submission:

1. Articles and reviews should be 250 to 350 words.  If articles are longer, we reserve the right to edit for length.

2. Our deadline for each month’s issue is the 15th of the previous month.  (For the summer issue, July and August, it is June 15.)  Please establish the month your article will run with the Editor.  If for any reason you can not meet the deadline, please notify the Editor as soon as possible so other arrangements can be made.

3. Please keep in mind the objectives stated above when writing.  We want this publication to be up-beat, positive and to spread good news.

4. Please be certain the information you give us is accurate.  For example, if you are mentioning prices in a restaurant review, check to be sure they are correct before submission. 

5. Send your article to cfgoldberg@optonline.net and include your daytime phone number in case we need to get in touch with you.

City Soundings’ selection criteria for publication:

1. If we have more material for an issue than we can use, we will decide which
items will run that month and which will be put in a later issue.  Those articles that are time sensitive will be chosen over those that can run at a later date. 

2. If we receive more than one article on a topic, we reserve the right to select which one to run.  If you submit an article on a topic that has been covered in a recent issue, we may choose not to run it.  To avoid these situations, please confer with the Editor before writing your article. 

3. If City Soundings thinks a submission is not compatible with our mission or in any way inappropriate, we will contact the author and ask for it to be rewritten, or we may refuse to publish it.

4. Minor editing, such as spelling, punctuation, etc. is part of the editorial process that is applied to all articles.  Occasionally a piece will be edited slightly for clarification.  If more than minor editing is necessary, the editor will contact the author to discuss how it could be rewritten. 

How to Submit Photos . 
You are welcome to submit a picture to be published along with your article. Please e-mail as a jpeg at the highest resolution possible. We reserve the right to refuse any submission based on quality and content.
